from an abandoned concrete structure to a social aggregation machine ”

The project aims to consider the architectural artifact as a skeleton to which, through distinguishable and removable structures, it is possible to donate a new public purpose.

Brise-Vent Havre presents itself as an opportunity to study and develop the theme of Open Architecture, or the possibility of creating a resilient and as flexible architecture as possible in order to respond to the renewed needs of users.

A historical icon capable of self-regenerating through the most different uses. It is important to define in the foreground the desire to regenerate the Brise-Vent complex through the creation of a new museum for the city of Le Havre.

But how is it possible to think of an architecture that can be capable of regenerating itself over the years and addressing different and varied uses? The theme of the project is to treat the existing concrete structure as a skeleton to which some structures are connected (metal elements that are clearly recognizable).

This structures add fundamental elements (such as stairs etc …) to support the “deficits” of the current structure. The main idea is to obtain a large “empty” space, divisible into various solutions depending on the need. Additional elements such as curtains, furniture etc… can be implemented to create new and ever-changing environments. The possibilities of these variations make each space new and versatile, giving new life to the Brise-Vent and new public solutions to the city of Le Havre.
